TARIGS MountainRock now available as a Vegan Leather version!
Double-digit temperatures in winter, melting ice in permafrost regions and increasing extreme weather events are reasons to pay more attention than ever to sustainability in this current time. More and more people are therefore opting for vegan products that are free from animal-based ingredients. TARIGS now offers an environmentally friendly alternative made from vegan leather, which consists of 50% bio-based resources and was produced in Germany. The material is also OEKO-TEX 100 and GOTS-certified, which means that it is free from harmful substances and has been produced under fair conditions. The backpack is also produced in Europe.
The Vegan Leather MountainRock Backpack is available in the colors Black, Brown and White.
The vegan Backpack
The MountainRock Backpack will be available in three colours – White, Black and Brown – and in sizes Medium and Large. The vegan leather is high-quality and durable, resembles animal leather and the sustainability labels support environmentally friendly and high-quality production.
In terms of design and functionality, the new MountainRock version corresponds to the “original”. Both backpacks have a large window made of 3D mesh, which is both light and air-permeable and can be opened with a zip. In addition, both backpacks have mesh pockets on the outside, one zip pocket on the outside and one on the inside to store various items. These can be water bottles, wallet, keys or treats.
In addition, the air holes along the back ensure good ventilation and air circulation.
Ergonomically shaped shoulder straps and a padded back section ensure optimum carrying comfort. A firm, waterproof base and removable metal bars ensure that the backpack always remains upright and stable. Thanks to the intelligent metal frame, your dog can easily be placed in the backpack from above.
There is also a strap in the new backpack to securely fasten your furry friend.
Just like the “original” MountainRock Backpack made of robust PVC material, the new version of the MountainRock is also water-repellent, but not 100% waterproof. Due to the necessity of the air holes and the window, the backpack simply cannot be completely waterproof.

Bio-based, OEKO-TEX 100, GOTS-certified – what does that mean?
In the production of bio-based raw materials, biogenic raw materials, such as corn or sugar cane, are used exclusively or partially.
The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is one of the best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. It guarantees that the backpack does not cause any health concerns as a result of hazardous materials. During the test, a catalogue of criteria updated annually, taking into account legal requirements and the current state of knowledge. The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 therefore guarantees health safety and sustainability.
Normal leather has some disadvantages. A less favourable eco-balance can be seen in the inappropriate animal husbandry and the associated animal suffering as well as the enormous consumption of water, energy and CO₂ emissions.
During the processing phase, leather often comes into contact with toxic pollutants and chemicals. Vegan leather, or artificial leather, offers a sustainable, environmentally and animal-friendly alternative.
By manufacturing the leather in Germany and producing the backpacks in Europe, emphasis is placed on short transport routes, clean energy and stricter regulations regarding the use of chemicals.
GOTS stands for “Global Organic Textile Standard” and is a textile processing standard for organic fibres. Both ecological and social criteria for textile production are taken into account during the audit. GOTS-certified organic cotton promises that the cotton has been grown without the use of pesticides and agricultural poisons. Furthermore, water is used much more efficiently during cultivation than in the cultivation of conventional cotton. Organic cotton ensures that the impact on global warming is significantly reduced.
