Small dog with a big ego
The Miniature Bullterrier has an eventful history. As early as the 19th century, work was carried out specifically on smaller versions of the Bullterrier – originally as a rat catcher and companion dog. However, after the First World War, the breed disappeared completely from the limelight. It was not until the Miniature Bull Terrier Club was founded in 1938 that it was actively bred again and finally preserved.
Its self-confidence is what makes the Miniature Bullterrier so special. He is lively, courageous, playful – and sometimes a little stubborn. But his love of people and his loyal nature make him a wonderful companion.
These energetic dogs love exercise. They love to play, love to learn new tricks and are open to all kinds of action. Attentiveness and alertness, without being aggressive, and its people-orientated character make the Mini Bull the perfect partner for people with patience, dog knowledge and clear leadership. If a person has these qualities, the stubbornness can be broken through.

Exercise, activity and bonding
A Mini Bullterrier is not a dog for couch potatoes. If you don’t give him enough exercise and mental exercise, he will quickly become a bored and frustrated whirlwind.
Daily walks, retrieving, agility or search games and tricks should be part of the daily programme.
Early socialisation is a must for this breed, which is not so easy to handle. Because the Mini Bullterrier typically likes to test boundaries, it needs clear leadership and calm instructions.
This affectionate four-legged friend can quickly become stressed and destructive if separated for long periods. It is therefore particularly suitable for couples with plenty of time and patience.
Grooming and health: little effort – lots of attention
Typically for short-haired dogs, it is sufficient to brush the Mini Bullterrier once or twice a week. During the shedding period, rubber gloves can help to get rid of loose hair.
Although the Miniature Bullterrier is a perfect match for active and sporty people, it may not always be able to keep up with its two-legged friends due to age or health reasons. Patellar luxations, heart problems, eye diseases and deafness are typical health risks. TARIGS dog backpacks are available to ensure that your human-centred Mini Bull can still keep up. Large (L) backpacks are the best fit for most dogs of this breed. Our lightweight, comfortable backpacks are perfect for compact powerhouses like the Miniature Bullterrier.
The Miniature Bullterrier is a dog full of energy, humour and character.
If you offer them a home with structure, love, exercise and clear leadership, you will gain a loyal, cheerful and exceptional companion for life. Not a dog for everyone – but just the right one for people who are looking for something special.
