Meet Bibiane and Tarig. TARIGS wasn’t created at a drawing board, but on the trails leading to the summit. It’s a story about courage, sketches on napkins, and the promise to never compromise on quality.
Great ideas are often born out of necessity. We wanted to explore the world, but no backpack offered Tarig the required safety or provided me with the comfort needed for true ssummit ascents. Instead of compromising, we developed TARIGS. From the first stroke on paper to fair production within the EU, every step represents unconditional quality.

Before the first stitch is made, our drafting tables fill up: we sketch, discard, and optimize until every detail – from the padded base plate to the safety belt – is perfectly thought out. Our drawings are more than just technical specs; they are the foundation for your shared freedom. Every line is a promise to the quality of your journey.

2005
It all begins with West Highland Terrier Tarig:
In 2005, Bibiane’s companion was born, who would later become the namesake and inspiration for our brand.
2018
The birth of TARIGS:
In 2018, the idea turns into a company. An exciting phase begins, filled with initial design drafts and the search for the right partners in Europe to bring our vision of safety and adventure to life.
2019
A year of premieres:
The first prototype of the MountainRock Backpack is created—back then, specifically in Tarig’s size (today’s size M). After intensive testing phases, the ultimate challenge follows: the first ascent of the Brocken with the final sample. Another emotional milestone follows: On June 30th, the first backpack sold begins its journey to a customer in Austria.
2020
2020 is all about diversity:
We launch the first Limited Editions of the MountainRock Backpack, including a fundraising campaign for the WWF. With the PeakStone Backpack (initially as One Size), we also introduce our second backpack model and solidify our vision of sustainable, functional outdoor gear.
2021
Your feedback and a painful farewell:
The PeakStone Backpack is released in new sizes and colors, while further Limited Editions of the MountainRock Backpack once again support important donation projects. One thing is particularly important to us: we listen to you. Every new product is created based on your experiences. By adventurers, for adventurers.
But the year ends with a difficult goodbye. Tarig, our namesake, loyal companion, and the origin of this journey, sets off on his final journey. His spirit lives on in every one of our designs, reminding us daily of why we do what we do.
2022
Rethinking mobility:
With the Booster Seat, even more comfort enters our range, while the Snuggle Bag perfectly complements our product lineup as a cozy retreat. Whether on the hiking trail or at home – we ensure that your dog feels comfortable and safe everywhere.
2023
2023 is all about innovation:
Alongside numerous Limited Editions, we introduce the Dachshund Backpack and the MountainRock in vegan leather. Additionally, a new 20 kg version of the MountainRock is released. With the launch of the Padded Plus Hipbelt in November, we respond to our community’s increasing demands for durability and comfort.
2024
We are speaking new languages:
With the launch of the BIRDLINER for feather-light excursions and the ROOFPACKER for cats, we are expanding our mission to entirely new animal companions. We are also setting new standards for dogs: from the specialized Bulldog Backpack to the Dachshund Backpack in Extra Wide. While the 20 kg MountainRock now conquers the mountains in green as well, our new AddA Bags ensure organization in your everyday adventures.
2025
In 2025, we are setting new design standards with the Bulldog Backpack in Desert Sand. At the same time, we are bursting with energy: numerous new projects are already in development. We are working tirelessly on innovative solutions to ensure that you and your animals remain perfectly equipped in the future.
2026
The next level of adventure gear is already in the works.
